From the first chapter Ms Perie has you hooked. Cooper wanted everything that the good life could give him and he would do whatever it took to get it, even commit murder. He married Laura because she was supposed to help him to the top but even with everything she did, it still was not good enough. It was time to do something to make things even better than it was. One thing was definite children were not part of the deal. All he had to do was make sure no one knew what he was up to and as long as he kept his cool and listened to Jared when he decided to be there, everything would be fine. As we all know though things just don’t always work the way they should and suddenly with Sheryl and Renee in his life he thought he had it all! The problem with over confidence is we never see the small stuff that could wreck things for us. So we killed someone, we are too smart in what we did for anyone to realise what happened.
The more I read the more I despised Cooper and couldn’t wait for him to get his comeuppance. How Ms Perie left this book has me waiting for book two just so I can find out what happened with Cooper, Renee and Jared.
