Protective Hearts by D.S. Williams

Protective Hearts

The first chapter describes the house Finn was to live in, and how the friendship between Finn, Bryan and Ash began. The story started to unfold immediately and had me in its grip including my fondness for Shep.
It’s a good feeling when things go bad and your closest friends gather around you to help and protect. When I started to read how Shelby, Ash and Caleb surrounded Finn to help her it made me realise how lucky I was also to have friends in my life like that.
Finn had to escape her new location when the Ripper found her and would rather die than let the Ripper take her again. The question was how was he able to find Finn when only her friends knew where she was?
It is hard to believe that someone you have known for years was a werewolf, with explanations come understanding and you learn to cope. As the relationship between Finn and Caleb builds up so does the tension if the Ripper will find her again.
As I continued to read the book I suddenly realised what type of being the Ripper was after Finn drank the ‘Pono Toniki’ and went through her kidnapping as if she was back in the cave. Ginny and Channing also realised what the Ripper was as Finn told her story.
The twist at the end was brilliant. The way D.S. Williams took us back to centuries past and brought it all back to current times explained it all.

The Nememiah Chronicles 4 – Knowledge of Love by D.S. Williams

4

I felt Charlottes anguish, shed tears and understood Charlotte’s heartache when she blamed herself on the death of Lucas and Conal.  Then finding one lived and the other did not, the pain was still unbearable.  What gift did Lucas give Charlotte that would cause joy and fright?  After 4 books my dislike for Archangelo is immense.  War is such a hard thing to face, add to the mix being young and having the supernatural around you and life is that much harder. I love when Charlotte uses her Sigil and the effect it has on her…I must admit I would not mind a couple myself!  There were times I actually laughed aloud and times I felt Charlottes anger.  I was there fighting with Charlotte, Gwyn and Gabrielle all the way and understood why they had to do what they did.  Things are starting to heat up for Charlotte and the Zaen Community.  Will she survive this quest or will Archangelo win?  Is it even possible to kill someone who is part Angel, part Vampire?  Does Charlotte have to die to fulfil her destiny as seen by Nememiah!!!

It looks like we have to wait for Book 5 of this intriguing series.  I for one cannot wait.

The Nememiah Chronicles 3 – Knowledge Hurts by D.S. Williams

The Nememiah Chronicles 3

Escaping from the Consiliului Suprem de Drâghici Vampiri was not easy.  Injuries to the Tines were horrendous.  Charlotte had another problem where it came to loving 2 men and deciding which one to be with…Lucas or Conal!  At the end she really only had one choice.  Time heals all but another attack was imminent.  Charlottes sleep yields a lot of information but does not help her get any rest.   At last, Charlotte found a place to keep them safe but how long will this last, only time will tell.  So many decisions to make for one so young, each one a mystery that has to be unravelled to get the answer.  Charlotte’s belief in having to put up with the dreams and nightmares so they are warned on what will happen next is a testament to her strength of character.  When they brought her dad in to save Charlottes life it was not something she expected when she woke up from Archangelo’s attack.  What do you say to a man who abandoned you as a 2 year old?  Plenty if Charlotte has he way.  Will the fighting ever stop?  There had to be a way of killing the demons and younglings faster than they were. Running after Archangelo in the hope of stopping all the fighting was the only solution that Charlotte could see.  Then the worst possible thing happened, could Charlotte survive their deaths?

You will have to read The Nememiah Chronicles – Knowledge of Love Book 4 to see who dies and who survives.

The Nememiah Chronicles 2 – Knowledge Quickening by D.S. Williams

The Nememiah Chronicles 2

To wake up in a cold dank room would be frightening but not to know how you got there would be worse.  How much punishment can a person take before their body and mind just gives up. Charlotte knew she could put up with anything except someone else being killed because of her.  This book is where is first meets Conal and realises there is not much time before the change affects him.  At last Lucas’s Kiss and Conal’s Pack meet, I could feel the tension in the room and could not read fast enough to see if they get into a fight.  If only all wars could be handled the way this was accomplished life would be so much better for us all.  Again, I found myself laughing aloud at the antics Charlotte and Striker got up to.  I found this book – Knowledge Quickening – had me going through the different facets of my feelings from anger to sadness to laughter and sorrow.  Towards the end, everything started to happen.  Charlotte found out whom she really was training to understand her ‘gift’ and finding it easier than she thought.  The tricky part was coming up with a plan to rescue the Tines.  Arriving at the Castle Charlotte realized things were worse then she thought but she had to ignore it all for the plan to succeed.  Her first glimpse of Archangelo made her wonder if they were born twins and separated at birth.  The fighting was gruesome, who would win the battle and could they save the Tines?

I can’t wait to read The Nememiah Chronicles 3 – Knowledge Hurts to continue with this great series.

The Nememiah Chronicles 1 – Knowledge Revealed by D.S. Williams

The Nememiah Chronicles 1

What a tragedy to happen to someone so young. Isn’t it ironic that at a time when all you wanted to do was die you ended up making friends.  Lucas’s idea of asking simple questions so he and Charlotte can know each other better was a great way of making Charlotte feel comfortable.  Does Charlotte decide it’s best to end it and meet up with everyone on the other side or does she stay on this realm?  Confusion is now sitting in…how would you react if you came across the supernatural?  I have pondered this thought myself quite a few times; in all honesty I don’t know how I would react.

As Charlotte was introduced to the different other people I had to laugh at Striker and Ripleys interaction.  There were other times I laughed out loud when Ripley made a comment.  I was in fits of giggles when Charlotte found out Strikers real name and what his mother wanted him to do.  Charlottes ‘gift’ is amazing and what she gave back to the ‘Kiss’ to substitute for Christmas presents words could not express how they appreciated the gift.  Sometimes deciding what was best for everyone else so you did not cause them pain is not necessarily the best choice. Like all new relationships there is a lot to learn about each other.  It was great to at last see some sunshine come into Charlotte’s life.  All was going great at the wedding until Charlotte was taken.  Book 3 The Nememiah Chronicles – Knowledge Quickening is a must read to see what happens next in this great sage.
